These wonderful little quail eggs come from my remote village in Northern Thailand. I have no idea what breed of quail they are (nor does my neighbor who raises the birds ;) but they measure about 1.25 inches to 1.5 inches long. These come from happy free range quails :-)
I was taught the Japanese method of blowing eggs by a friend using 1 tiny hole at the base (bottom end). The hole is strategically placed so that it is not too obvious. Once blown, the eggs are injected w/ a bleach solution to ensure everything inside the egg is sanitized as bugs often like to lay eggs (larvae) in unbleached eggs :-( They are then left in the sun to dry for several days.

This auction is for ONE ostrich egg that haS been emptied (= "blown out"). The egg will have a single hole less than 2 cm at one end. The color of natural ostrich eggs varies from white to off-white. The circumference of the egg, measured in the middle of the egg, will range from 16" to 17". These eggs were produced from ostrich hens living a good life in a pasture setting.
